I Can Do It!

I was SO EXCITED to attend the I Can Do It conference in Tampa with Positive Impact Magazine’s Charity Beck, Nancy Baptiste and Julie Starke. Not their first time, however it was mine. WOW! I loved it and took away so many positive messages and tons of motivation from the event.

There were about twenty-five amazing authors/speakers sharing their inspirational messages. Some of my favorites were Dr. Wayne Dyer–we had a surprise visit from him at the writer’s workshop! He shared his whole story, beginning with him traveling all around the country visiting various radio stations and talk shows. He even shared with us how he bought out all the copies of his first book during it’s first, second, and third print run! He would not take no for an answer and we are so thankful he didn’t…he has touched so many lives…such an extraordinary man! He sent everyone home with an exercise to practice– “I AMS”– every night before bed to spend five minutes going over things you are and aspire to be, for example:

“I am grateful. I am healthy. I am happy. I am powerful.”

I was thrilled to see Louise Hay at the writer’s workshop, too–another surprise! I loved hearing how she got started as a writer as well…very inspirational. I also loved hearing her nutrition advice–try to cut out as much sugar, wheat and dairy as possible. She eats homemade soups and green shakes at least once a day! I love her positive affirmations, she has such a gift for turning everything into a positive! Others I enjoyed were Cheryl Richardson, Colette Baron-Reid and Michelle Phillips.

Michelle Phillips is actually one of Positive Impact Magazine’s talented writers. She is wonderful! I was able to relate very much to her message on choosing to follow the path that is right for you. Making sure that you are doing what you love to do and understanding what that is. She had us write down ten things we love about ourselves. I’ve never done this before…I struggled at first, however this ended up being such a great exercise. We also wrote down ten things we love to do whether or not we are currently doing them. I realized that I need to make time to do the things that make me happy more often–we all do! She spoke about how we need to stop making excuses which hold us back from making positive changes in our lives. There can always be an excuse, however the solution to getting rid of those blocks is usually not that difficult and once we remove the blocks, we will feel so much better!

I strongly recommend this incredible conference to everyone and am so grateful I was able to attend. We are excited to have recruited some awesome new writers from the event who will offer a lot of talent and wisdom to share with Positive Impact Magazine readers in the near future!
