Discovery of four super-heavy chemical elements by scientists in Russia, America and Japan has been verified by experts and formally added to table

Source: Periodic table’s seventh row finally filled as four new elements are added

Those of you who came up with a mneumonic device or song to memorize the periodic table are going to have to do some revising. Four new elements have been added, completing the table’s seventh row. The elements are currently named ununtrium, (Uut or element 113), ununpentium (Uup, element 115), ununseptium (Uus, element 117), and ununoctium (Uuo, element 118), but those are just placeholders for the time-being (and thank goodness because those aren’t hugely creative or memorable). Each of the four new elements are synthetic and exist for mere moments before decaying into other elements. This team of elemental pioneers don’t plan on resting on their laurels for long. They’re already looking to continue their work, seeking out element 119 and beyond.
