This year’s Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta brought together tens of thousands of spectators eager to watch the launch of hundreds of giant, vibrantly-colored balloons. The 44th annual event, which ended yesterday, spans nine days across 72-acres of Albuquerque’s launch park and features cleverly-crafted balloons shaped like Star Wars characters, winged insects, and even flying pigs! The final mass ascension took place at dawn on Sunday bringing a close to one of the world’s largest balloon festivals, which featured more than 500 participants representing dozens of states and more than 20 countries.
